My guess is that never in the history of mankind have aftermarket intake and exhaust manifolds fit without quite a bit of filing and grinding. The “quick” project of making sure the carbs and headers fit properly before dropping the motor in turned into a several hour session with pneumatic, electric, and hand tools.

I’m getting the front end back together now, and am almost ready to drop the motor in. The steering, suspension, and brakes are on, and I put the wheels back on to make final measurements for the wheel spacers.
I got the rearend of the Race Wagon back together, and made a set of seals around the rear coil-over shocks to keep debris out of the cockpit. I just used a car tire innertube and some aluminum sheet stock.
We got the interior and engine compartment painted today. Now it’s time to reassemble the goon.

This weekend HMSA was racing at Laguna Seca Mazda Raceway. The quality of the cars at HMSA events is always spectacular, the racing is always great, and hanging out with buddies in the pits is always the best. Here are a couple of pics from Saturday.
