About
This blog is for those who race cars, or want to race cars, but don’t have an unlimited budget. Once you get bitten by the racing bug, your life changes forever. You constantly think about making your car better. You constantly look forward to the next race weekend. You constantly dream of a checkered flag. And you constantly wonder how you’re gonna pay for it all. So I developed this site to share ideas about Racing On The Cheap. Come on, join me for the ride…
Hi, I’m Troy Tinsley and I work as a pilot for United Airlines based in SFO. I have recently moved to Half Moon Bay, CA from Carefree, AZ, and am enjoying meeting the local enthusiasts while learning my new local racetracks. I have raced cars with SCCA, NASA, VARA, and HSR-West, and before that I raced motorcycles with CCS and Whiplash AZ. I have worked as a Driving Instructor with NASA-AZ and VARA, as well as with some track-day clubs. Some seasons I have raced once a month, some once a year. Currently I am building my next race car, a 1970 Datsun 510 Wagon (yes, a wagon). I am luckily married to my wonderful and understanding wife, Kathy, who is a successful freelance writer. I have also enjoyed a terrific sponsorship from the Peoria Nissan Parts Department in Peoria, AZ. Please feel free to contact me at racingonthecheap@gmail.com, or leave comments on my blog about how you are Racing on the Cheap so I can share them with our readers.
The following pictures are of my current project, my past race cars, and other cars I have raced.
