Getting ready for the fall season, nothing like a new pair of shoes for my baby…

A new project has worked its way into my garage, it’s a 1972 Honda cb450 in need of a bit of attention. I’ll bring the ‘Green Hornet’ back to life as a sporty, lightweight, grin-producer. Build link
For any car junkie, the Monterey Historics should be at least a once-in-a-lifetime pilgrimage. Ignore the politics that have now changed the official name to the “Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion”, as it will always just be the “Historics” at Laguna Seca. Last week I spent a day in the pits helping my buddy Tim Arnett who was invited to race his Datsun 2000 Roadster, a race car that carries quite a bit of racing history. His car was running well so I had a lot of time to roam the pits, drooling over millions of dollars worth of vintage racing machinery. The crowds really pick up on Saturday and Sunday which can be fun if you’re into people watching, but if you really want to get close-up looks at the cars, take good pictures, and talk to the owner/drivers, showing up for Thursday and Friday is the way to do it. I rounded out my Historics visit with a Thursday evening trip to the Baja Cantina for a couple hours of viewing the car-crazy locals show off their cars and bikes, and then watched a couple hours of gavel banging at the Russo and Steele auction tents.
